A flavorful and hearty one-pot meal combining ground turkey, orzo, and fresh spinach in a creamy tomato sauce.

Ingredients

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion

Main Protein

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Pasta and Liquids

  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta
  • 1 can tomato sauce (14 oz)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 small handfuls fresh baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions 

  • Add onion and garlic to a pot with oil; cook until translucent.
  • Add ground turkey; cook until no longer pink, then drain excess grease.
  • Add tomato sauce, water, cream, seasonings, and orzo; simmer until orzo is cooked and sauce thickens, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat; stir in parmesan and spinach, cover, and sit for 3 minutes.
  • Scoop into bowls, sprinkle with parmesan, and serve.

Notes

Use fresh spinach for best flavor and texture.
