Sweet & Sour Chicken Fusional Recipe (Crispy Desi-Chinese)

A flavorful fusion dish combining crispy chicken with tangy sweet and sour sauce, perfect for a quick and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Meat and Poultry

  • 500 g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces

Baking and Coating

  • 1 cup cornflour
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste salt

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 1 piece bell pepper, diced
  • 1 piece onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced

Sauces and Sweeteners

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with water (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water)

Garnish

  • chopped spring onions for garnish spring onions

Instructions 

  • Mix cornflour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, chili powder, turmeric, and salt.
  • Coat chicken pieces in the flour mixture and fry until crispy. Set aside.
  • Sauté onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant. Add bell pepper and pineapple, cook 2-3 mins.
  • Mix soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and add to vegetables. Thicken with cornstarch slurry.
  • Add crispy chicken to sauce, toss to coat. Serve garnished with spring onions.

Notes

For extra crunch, double fry the chicken.
