A comforting and flavorful dish perfect for holiday gatherings, combining tender sweet potatoes with a crunchy pecan topping.

Ingredients

Sweet Potatoes

  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes (peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.33 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 0.25 cup butter (melted)
  • 0.33 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1.25 cups chopped pecans

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 dish.
  • Cook sweet potatoes in boiling water for 15 minutes, then drain.
  • Mash sweet potatoes with remaining ingredients and spread in dish.
  • Mix pecan topping ingredients and sprinkle over casserole.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and pecans toasted.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon on top before baking.
