A creamy, cheesy baked potato dish perfect for family dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
Potatoes

potatoes (thinly sliced)

butter (for cheese sauce)

all-purpose flour (for roux)

sharp cheddar cheese (grated, for sauce)

cheese (cheddar or Gruyère, grated, for topping)

cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch dish.
Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, cook 1-2 min. Gradually add milk, simmer 5-7 min. Stir in cheese, season with salt and cayenne.
Layer half of potatoes in dish, pour half of cheese sauce. Repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce.
Sprinkle grated cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake 45 min. Uncover and bake 15-20 min until golden.
Rest 10-15 min. Garnish with green onions if desired before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cheese sauce.
