  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (Substitution: Light or dark brown sugar can be used interchangeably.)
  • 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 0.5 cup milk (Substitution: Almond or oat milk for a dairy-free version.)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (freshly grated for best flavor)
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg (freshly grated for best flavor)
  • 0.5 tsp salt (a pinch)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted for enhanced flavor)
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour (Substitution: Whole wheat flour for a denser texture.)
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar (light or dark to suit your preference.)
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix cooked sweet potatoes, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Combine chopped pecans, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter to make topping; sprinkle over casserole.
  • Bake for 45 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the pecans before adding.
