A classic comfort food, this green bean casserole combines fresh green beans with creamy mushroom sauce and crispy onions for a delicious side dish.

Ingredients

Green Beans

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Blanch green beans in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then drain.
  • Mix sour cream, mushroom soup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Add green beans to mixture and combine. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  • Top with fried onions and cheese if desired, then bake for 25-30 minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or herbs.
