Enjoy a quick and hearty twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak using ground beef and fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper green bell pepper, sliced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls hoagie rolls
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper (for seasoning)
  • optional hot sauce or mayonnaise (for serving)

Instructions 

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Sauté onions and peppers until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add ground beef, cook until browned, then mix with vegetables.
  • Divide mixture into four portions, top with cheese, and melt for 2 minutes.
  • Toast rolls if desired, fill with beef mixture, and add hot sauce or mayonnaise if desired.

Notes

For a healthier option, use whole wheat rolls and lean ground beef.
