A hearty and cheesy baked pasta dish featuring ground beef, marinara sauce, and melted cheddar cheese, perfect for a comforting family dinner.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 1.5 lb penne pasta

Cheese

  • 1.5 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Meat

  • 1.5 lb lean ground beef

Other ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • To taste salt & pepper
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Cook penne pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain.
  • Heat olive oil, sauté onion 3-4 min, add garlic 30 sec.
  • Add ground beef, cook 6-7 min until browned, drain excess grease.
  • Mix in marinara, basil, salt, pepper; simmer 3-4 min. Combine with pasta.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Layer pasta mixture and cheese in a greased dish, bake 20 min covered, then 5-10 min uncovered.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese before baking.
