Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water

Frying

  • vegetable oil vegetable oil, for frying

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • chopped green onions chopped green onions, for garnish
  • sesame seeds sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions 

  • Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and pepper to make the batter.
  • Add water gradually to form a smooth batter.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan. Dip chicken pieces into batter and fry until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes in a pan; heat until bubbly.
  • Toss fried chicken in the honey sauce. Serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra crispiness, double fry the chicken.
