A comforting and cheesy dish combining tender baked chicken with classic macaroni and a creamy cheese sauce.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 3-4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (Seasoned and baked)

Pasta

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni (Cooked until al dente)

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (Melted into sauce)

Dairy

  • 2 cups whole milk (For cheese sauce)

Fats & Thickeners

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (Used in roux)
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour (Creates roux)

Spices & Seasonings

  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp paprika

Salt and Pepper

  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions 

  • Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika; bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  • Cook macaroni in boiling water for 8-10 minutes; drain.
  • Melt butter, stir in flour to make a roux; cook until golden.
  • Whisk in milk, cook until thickened; add cheese and stir until melted.
  • Dice baked chicken, mix with macaroni and cheese sauce.
  • Transfer to dish, bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until golden.

Notes

For extra flavor, top with additional cheese before baking.
