A rich and cheesy side dish featuring thinly sliced potatoes baked in a creamy garlic cheese sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1.5 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, for greasing and layering
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Slice potatoes thinly and mix cream, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Layer potatoes in dish, pour half of the cream mixture, and sprinkle with cheese. Repeat layers.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil last 15 minutes for golden crust.

Notes

For a crispier top, remove foil 10 minutes earlier.
