A flavorful and hearty pasta dish featuring lean ground turkey, rich tomato sauce, and melted cheeses, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Meat and Protein

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
  • 1 15 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 ½ cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 8 oz pasta (penne, rotini, or shells)
  • ½ cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • to taste Fresh parsley or basil for garnish

Instructions 

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet; cook diced onion for 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  • Add ground turkey; cook until no longer pink, about 5-6 minutes. Stir in spices and seasonings.
  • Pour in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and chicken broth; simmer. Add pasta, cover, and cook 10-12 minutes until tender.
  • Stir in heavy cream and cheeses; cook until melted and smooth. Garnish with herbs and serve.

Notes

For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
