These smash burgers are quick, easy, and incredibly flavorful. The key is smashing the beef thin to create a delicious crust.
Ingredients
Burger Ingredients

lbs
ground beef
(80/20 blend recommended)
4
burger buns
4
slices
cheese
(American, cheddar, or your preference)
1
tbsp
olive oil or butter
Salt and pepper
(to taste)
Optional toppings
(lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, burger sauce)
Instructions
Divide beef into 8 portions. Form into loose balls.
Heat skillet over medium-high. Add oil or butter.
Place 2 beef balls onto the hot surface.
Smash each ball flat with a spatula.
Season with salt and pepper.
Cook 2-3 minutes, until a dark crust forms.
Flip burgers. They should release easily.
Top each burger with cheese.
Cook 1-2 minutes, until cheese is melted.
Remove burgers and place on bottom buns.
Add desired toppings.
Top with the top buns and serve.
Notes
For an even better crust, don't move the burger while it's searing!
