Ingredients

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Potatoes

  • 3 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Cream Mixture

  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Sauté beef with onions, garlic, and spices until browned.
  • Layer sliced potatoes in a baking dish, brush with melted butter, and season with garlic powder and black pepper.
  • Mix milk, cream, flour, and seasonings; pour over potatoes. Top with cooked beef and cheeses.
  • Bake uncovered for 40 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Use fresh parsley for best flavor and consider covering with foil if browning too quickly.
