A delicious combination of tart apples and sweet crumble in a classic pie crust, perfect for cozy desserts.

Ingredients

Pie Crust

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 disk uncooked pie crust (homemade or store-bought)

Oats and Sugars

  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (separated from previous flour)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (separated)
  • 1 tablespoon tablespoon granulated sugar (separated)
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (lightly packed and separated)
  • 1 tablespoon tablespoon light brown sugar (separated)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon teaspoon ground cinnamon (separated)
  • 3/4 teaspoon teaspoon fine sea salt (separated)
  • 3 pounds pounds tart, crisp apples (about 6 medium-sized, sliced into 1/4")
  • 6 tablespoons tablespoons unsalted butter (cold, cut into small cubes)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare pie dish and baking sheet.
  • Roll out pie crust to 1/8" thickness and 12" diameter. Fit into pie dish and crimp edges.

Notes

Chill the butter for a flakier crust and consider adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream for serving.
