A quick and easy mac and beef recipe that's both healthy and satisfying. Perfect for a weeknight meal!
Ingredients
Meat Sauce

pound
lean ground beef
1
onion, chopped
2
cloves
garlic, minced

can crushed tomatoes

ounce
can tomato sauce

ounce
can kidney beans, rinsed and drained

teaspoon
dried oregano

teaspoon
dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Macaroni

pound
whole wheat elbow macaroni
Optional Topping

cup
shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
Brown ground beef, drain grease.
Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
Stir in tomatoes, sauce, beans, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook macaroni according to package directions.
Drain macaroni and add to meat sauce.
Stir to combine.
Top with cheese, if desired.
Serve immediately.
Notes
For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
